Morning H/R 50 bpms

Mobility
Pumps / Knee Bends

DL 3 x 1 110kgs

Felt a little heavy this weight. I'll give it another day or two, probably a bit tired after yesterday, before I drop it down. Will go for a walk later and may fit in a few snatches here and there today.

Focus has returned to diet again. Talk about biggest bang for your buck, I could improve relative strength across the board and general all round athleticism just by coming in closer to my preferred weight. I've already dropped a few pounds this week by imposing a few guidelines to my eating. Nothing out there, but something I did well on before and something I feel I can stick for the long term.

You're deadlifting the day after a maximum effort, and it feels heavy? No surprise there. You need recovery, and more deadlifting doesn't qualify as recovery.

You didn't respond to my initial post on the subject, but how about now?

You deadlift too often. Going heavy is great, but going light the next day, and then light again, followed by another light day, followed by a failed attempt at a "medium" day, followed by a frustrating day off is not a good plan for deadlift success.

If you deadlift heavy, once a week and on a plan, you will lift better and enjoy it more. Deadlifts are not a daily activity. Use kettlebells for your daily fix.

Colin, I think Aaron has a valid point about resting at least one day after a 1RM test day.

Also great to hear you are making good progress with your diet again. This will pay huge dividends if you can stick with it. Great job! (And I'm looking forward tor reading your consumption log should you decide to post it again.)

I am following Steve Justa's DL plan, for another 2 months. Then I'll be getting my daily fix from KBs and DLing twice a week at most.

The last 2 weeks when I did it I felt really good after every session. If I don't feel good I'll drop the weight til I do. It's not about going heavy all the time, it's about practicing.

I should also add that when I said it felt little heavy I meant in relation to my perceived effort on the weight I was using last week. It was still very comfortable.

Glad to hear today was much easier and that you are backing off with other stuff .. keep up the great work!

OK. I won't give you a hard time. Just think you'll have better results with less work.

Your input is appreciated - even if you have got my back up a little in your approach.

Your a strong guy who obviously has had good results. But I'm sure you'll agree there are many ways of gaining strength. I'm about the house a lot at present with a lot of time on my hands. I like doing something everyday. I got it completely wrong with the PttP cycle I was doing but this actually makes me feel better after I finish. Kinda sets me up for the day.

Fair enough. If you fail to achieve 2x bodyweight in the next year with your own plans, perhaps give some more thought to what I'm saying.

If you succeed, more power to you. I hope you reach all of your goals, however you get there.
